Even if you don’t know the first thing about triathlon wetsuits, this blog post will help you learn the basics of what to look for.

Aside from price, two other very important things you want to look for are fit and construction. How does it feel when you put it on? Does it fit like a glove or does it pucker along the neck, arm, wrist or ankle openings? Do you see seam glue and/or loose threads when you give it a little tug along the seams? Do you have a hard time pulling it off? If you can say yes to any of these questions, you’re wearing the wrong wetsuit. Note: all triathlon wetsuits should feel a tad bulkier in the thighs, but not so bulky that it feels as if your movements are restricted.

Now let’s talk price. Just how much should you expect to pay for your first triathlon wetsuit? Wetsuits run anywhere from about $160 to more than $500, but the average price is approximately $330. You may find just what you need at the lower end of those figures. Surprisingly, sometimes a more expensive triathlon wetsuit may also be an ill-fitting triathlon wetsuit. Don’t be afraid to return one that doesn’t fit well.
